To help secure your account, and protect riders, partners, and customers, Deliveroo conducts regular mandatory identity checks through your rider app. These checks require you to take a selfie to ensure that only you, and registered substitutes have access to your account.
Self-employed riders in Belgium have the freedom to allow someone else (a substitute) to use their account to complete deliveries. It's your responsibility that anyone who uses your account meets the requirements to ride with Deliveroo, including having a valid right to work.
This means that all substitutes must be registered through the app, and complete identity and document checks before they start using your account.
From your Profile page in the rider app, tap ‘Subcontractors’, then the + symbol in the upper right corner. Confirm you’ve read your rights and responsibilities, then enter their details.
Next, we’ll send your substitute an email so they can complete their document and identity checks. Once those are complete we’ll send you an email confirming you’ve added your substitute, and they can start to use your account.
Remember, you’re responsible for your substitute and orders they complete using your account. Deliveroo operates a zero-tolerance policy towards anyone who fails to meet their obligations in relation to any substitute engaged by them.
If you allow someone to use your account before they have completed these checks your account will be terminated, and neither you nor your substitutes will be able to complete deliveries.
Thanks for helping us keep Deliveroo safe for everyone.
